Think you know politics?

Have some extra cash lying around? Sick of losing fortunes in the stock market? Why not try your luck in the Iowa Electronic Markets, where you can wager on the outcome of the upcoming national elections. It is also a fairly good predictor of the actual outcome (as people tend to vote with their heads when money is involved), so pay attention to it the night before the actual election and impress all your friends who will be relying on ABC polling and John Zogby (who is actually pretty good).

Incidentally, with Kerry's pick of Edwards as VP he has pulled into a tie with George, the first time that has happened in a while. Because of this, I recommend buying Bush right now. Kerry will probably suffer a bit of a let down when Edwards is scrutinized more closely by the media. This is not to say that he is a bad choice, it's just that because he was so sunny and cheery during the primaries, he wasn't really the butt of much negative advertising. At some point the honeymoon will end, and Edwards will have to prove his mettle. He's riding on free political capital right now. If you buy Bush now and sell him in a few weeks, it can be free capital for you.
