Competition In Action

I had a nice surprise waiting for me at work today. MSN has increased the size of free Hotmail accounts to 250 MB. I only use my Hotmail account for "public use" (whenever some site requires an e-mail address for registration, basically any time I am forced to give my e-mail address to a possibly large audience) but it will be nice to not have to clean the thing out every four days.

This is no doubt due to the trend started by Gmail (which I am very impressed with) which provides 1000 MB of free storage. Rarely are the virtues of competition so clearly on display.

And good for MSN, as Hotmail was by far the worst e-mail provider out there.

  • another similar sorta thing-- got an email from netflix, saying that the price has now dropped to $17.99/month... no doubt due to new unlimited rental programs being started at blockbuster and wal-mart...

  • Really? We used to subscribe to netflix but we didn't really watch enough to justify it. But $17.99 is close to being worth it again.

  • Hey-

Came across your blog today. Good stuff. Glad you switched to Gmail. Hotmail sent too much porn. Gmail is far superior.

Noticed you were a college sports fan. Hoping you could add a blogroll link to my College Basketball Blog, I'd very much appreciate a link on your site.

And would gladly return the favor, adding a link from my site to yours.
