The Carnival of the Capitalists

is up at Management Craft. Thanks to Lisa Haneberg for the link. Check it out, there is no better way to start the new year. And don't miss this post from Law & Entrepreneurship News:

In reality, women owned businesses are treated far worse than their male counterparts when it comes to federal contracting. While women owned businesses make up almost half of all businesses in the US, they receive only 2.9% of all federal contracts.

  • Might it be that women owned businesses are less likely to be in industries where federal contracts are offered?

  • Perhaps, but 2.9% is very, very low. There are probably a variety of factors at work. Fewer women in positions of political power, government inertia (retaining old contractors, failing to consider new ones), and set-asides for otehr minorities all contribute to this stat.
