Abreu! Abreu!

That was like the Neverending Home Run Derby last night. I think it may still be going on. It's too bad that The Nothing got Jason Bay though.

  • I only watched a few seconds of last night's HR derby, but I have to say I don't really see why so many people seem to like it. It's like sitting next to Chris Berman while watching batting practice. I'm not a huge baseball fan anyway, but I think I'd rather see some kind of skills competition that involved who could run the bases the fastest or throw the ball the farthest or something.

  • Yeah, and sitting next to Chris Berman for anything is actually pretty painful. I watched Abreu hit and then decided to do some housework. It really is pretty boring, but people seem to love it for whatever reason.

I think they should take Scott Podsednik, Carl Crawford, and a few more fast guys and have a game of pickle. Now that I would watch.

  • I had the pleasure of going to Turner Field and seeing the 2000 Home Run Derby where Sammy Sosa tore the covers off of about 20 baseballs, and I have to say that it is MUCH more fun to watch in person than on TV.

It's actually pretty lame on TV. I knew that there was something wrong when I got home from class at 10:45 and it was still on. After an 8:00 start time? Sheesh, they may as well play a freaking game.
