I'm running on the "playoff system" platform.

You've probably heard this by now, but:

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee, charged with regulating America's sports industry, announced Friday it will conduct a hearing on the BCS next week, after this season's bowl matchups are determined.

"College football is not just an exhilarating sport, but a billion-dollar business that Congress cannot ignore," said committee Chairman Joe Barton, a Texas Republican. Barton's panel is separate from the House Government Reform panel that tackled steroids in baseball.

Your tax dollars at work. (Note: This is not from The Onion.)

  • Damn.
I thought after 9/11 we were going to get our priorities straight. Maybe next time.

  • This was announced within hours of the 9/11 Commission giving our government more Fs than As in their preparedness report. Awesome.

  • The Onion headline article actually seems more plausible. It says the "voice of God" that Bush hears is really Cheney playing tricks on him using the White House intercom. If Congress actually does something on this and it isn't killed by the S.Ct., I have only one question? Will my law degree work in Canada?
