Tecmo Bowl Trivia

In honor of my first fantasy draft, and with the regular season only 10 days away, it's time for the triumphant return of Tecmo Bowl Trivia. All questions pertain to Tecmo SUPER Bowl unless otherwise specified.

1. Who is the fastest nose tackle in the game, due either to a programming error or a programmer with a sense of humor?

2. Jim Kelly, Randall Cunningham, and ___________ do not appear in the game.

3. In the original Tecmo Bowl, who is the Bears' TE, notable due to his ability to catch passes even on "busted" plays?

4. Name the Arizona Cardinals miscolored RB.

5. Tampa Bay's starting RB's last name, and their starting WR's first name share 3/4 of their letters. Name both players.

6. Later in production Eric Dickerson was replaced in the original Tecmo Bowl by this RB.

7. The Pack featured legendary runners like Herman Fontenot, Keith Woodside, and Darryl Thompson. Their fourth RB was acquired via Plan B Free Agency (now available without prescription). Name him.

8. Who starts across from Anthony Carter on the Vikings, and Sterling Sharpe on the Packers?

9. Tecmo Super Bowl features some great running back-by-committee. Bo & Marcus, Christian & Barry, Otis and David, and Ickey Woods & _________?

10. The Jets had some excellent starting WRs, in my humble opinion. Name them.

Bonus: The Eagles had two now deceased players on their starting defense. Name them.

  • In the interest of fairness no internet searches were used in the preparation of these answers.

    1) Bob Nelson, GB Packers Nose Tackle. I think the programmers did it on purpose because the Packers defense was pretty awful the year it was based on.

    2) Bernie Kosar

    3) Cap Boso, I think. Actually, you could do that with a lot of tight ends in the game on other team. Keith Jackson was one of the better ones.

    4) Johnny a side note that was recently retired Ricky Proehl's rookie season.

    5) I think Reggie Cobb was the running back...can't remember the wide receiver.

    6) I'm stumped on this one.

    7) Michael Haddix...the original Mr 2.2 yards per carry (supplanted by Kevan Barlow)

    8) Hassan Jones?, Vikings and Perry Kemp, Packers.

    9) James Brooks

    10) Rob Moore was one of them, I think. The other one might have been Al Toon but I'm not sure.

Bonus Question: Jerome Brown and believe it or not, it took me awhile to come up with this one...Reggie White.

  • 1.
Bob Nelson of Green Bay. He seemed to have stats for the wrong position. Actually though, Richard Dent for the Bears was probably just as fast.

    2. Bernie Kosar

    3. Cap Boso

    4. Don't know

    5. Reggie Cobb. Gary Anderson.
    Mark Carrier.
Maybe a Bob or a Andrew for the other guy, based on the hint.

6 - I should know this because I had that version, but I don't even remember what team Dickerson was on that year. Colts would be my guess.

7 Michael Haddix. Slow as molasses in the game and in life.

    8 Hassan Jones.
    Perry Kemp

    9 James Brooks

    10 Al Toon, Robert Moore

11 Reggie White obviously is one. No idea on the other guy.

  • 5. Robert Clark at WR?

(I counted and I'm a point behind Scott K (not including the bonus), so I had to try.)

  • Lots of Scotts. Reggie Cobb is one half of the answer.

  • Eric Dickerson was replaced with Albert Bentley.
